SUMMARY:The 15 Original Postures of Yoga with Amy Pearce-Hayden
DESCRIPTION:Most of the hundreds of yoga postures that are practiced today were developed only a century ago. Surprisingly only 15 postures were outlined nearly 600 years ago as the foundation of the physical practice towards yoga in text form.We will explore the 14 postures that precede savasana\, all of which were designed to prepare the yogi for the deeper stages of self-realization. Explore the traditional approach to wellbeing as outlined by the Hatha Yoga Pradipika in theory and practice. Amy will offer an overview of the text\, followed by an exploratory practice of the posture fundamentals\, concluding with a silent meditation— all designed to move us closer to self-understanding. \nAll Levels Welcome. \n\n\nAmy Pearce-Hayden\, E-RYT 500\, CRP \nAmy’s formal Yoga study began in 1995 as part of her training as a professional actor\, and has now become her daily education and practice. Amy is the founder of The RajaHatha School of Yoga\, and carries this simple philosophy: “Absolutely everything is connected. Our practice is in becoming present in the moment to allow for that reality and magic to joyfully unfold.” Amy has studied Yoga in India and also under the guidance of many western yogis. She received her Certifications in Yoga that placed focus on the branches of Raja\, Hatha\, Jnana\, Bhakti\, and Tantra Yoga as well as Ayurveda. Amy has been training teachers in her linage since 2004. Spring 2025 is her 21st year certifying students. Amy has been featured in “Yoga International” Magazine both as a contributor and cover model. Amy has been named “Female Entrepreneur of the Year” of Putnam County\, NY. She is the author of “Living the Sutras\, A Guide to Yoga Wisdom beyond the Mat\, and the spin-off Podcast “Living It” co-host\, as well as the author of “Live Your Yoga”\, a yoga practice card deck.

SUMMARY:Winter Solstice Sunset Hike at The AT Boardwalk
DESCRIPTION:Preregistration recommended so we can communicate with participants regarding any changes due to weather.\nCome celebrate the change of season with us and mark the time of year when we begin to gradually welcome more light into our day. \nThe darkness\, cold\, and stillness of the winter season can leave us feeling heavy\, uninspired\, and with low energy. This is characteristic of the yin time. There is a rebirth happening\, and being quiet and slowing down can allow our layers of self to rest and restore. This will prepare us for the time on our path when the light is high again. It is a time to turn inward and hibernate\, in a sense\, and take inventory. Where has our energy been invested? What has the more “outward” season brought to light? What am I being given time to contemplate? \nIf Solstice were a question\, it might ask\, “From what have I strayed too far?” In the haste of activity and progress\, what essential values have I left behind? What did an earlier version of me know better than I? As we transition from the active\, outward life to an inner opening\, we may discover a disconnect between our aims in the world and the way our soul longs to sing. We can ask\, “Does my intent line up with my actions\, and capacity for those actions?” ~Toko-pa Turner \nWe will meet at the Boardwalk trailhead\, just south of Native Landscapes on Route 22. We will do an out and back on this easy to moderate trail\, with a pause built in for circle before we head back to the lot. \nWe will leave from the lot at 12:00pm sharp!

SUMMARY:Community Sādhana for Conscious Living in 2026
DESCRIPTION:Begin the new year in sacred community as we gather our attention\, energy\, and intention for a more conscious 2026. \nIn Classical Yoga\, the human condition is described as one of misperception—a subtle distortion that colors how we see ourselves\, others\, and the world. The veils that obscure clear seeing are known as the kleśas: nescience (avidya)\, egoism (asmitā)\, attachment (rāga)\, aversion (dveṣa)\, and the deep-rooted fear of loss or death (abhiniveśa). These are not personal flaws; they are universal experiences we all share. \nBy recognizing these veils with honesty and compassion\, we open the door to meaningful change. Awareness invites new patterns of thought\, action\, and relationship—allowing us to move through life with greater clarity\, steadiness\, and ease. \nJoin Gabrielle for a community exploration of the kleśas\, followed by yoga āsana and prāṇāyāma practices designed to cultivate receptivity and inner spaciousness. Each participant will leave with a simple\, effective tool to support daily self-awareness. Together we will anchor ourselves in conscious attention\, inspiring and uplifting one another as we step into the year ahead.

SUMMARY:Collage as Active Imagination — Exploring the Texture of the Soul with Dr. Jonathan Hyland\, PhD and Jessica Horton
DESCRIPTION:This workshop begins with gentle breathwork to center the mind\, open the heart\, and prepare for a creative journey inward. From that calm\, receptive space\, we’ll create a shared altar\, a sacred focal point where participants are invited to place allies\, guides\, ancestors – symbols\, images\, or objects representing energies or beings that support and inspire you. Placing them on the altar honors their presence and brings their wisdom into our collective space.\nWe will then explore collage as a practice of Active Imagination\, a concept developed by Carl Jung. Active Imagination is a conscious dialogue with the unconscious: by observing and responding to the images\, symbols\, and figures that emerge from within\, we allow the inner world to express itself. Collage provides a playful yet profound way to give shape\, texture\, and color to these inner images\, making the unseen aspects of the psyche visible and tangible. \nThrough guided exercises\, reflection\, and optional sharing\, we’ll explore personal symbols\, archetypes\, and inner narratives\, cultivating insight\, inspiration\, and connection. No previous artistic experience is needed — only curiosity and a willingness to listen to the whispers of your inner world. \nParticipants are welcome to bring scissors\, glue\, collage materials\, or any dream images they wish to tend\, though all materials will be provided.

Please note: This price is not paying “extra”; it’s the fair market value for the class or service. \n\nWe recommend paying this price if: you are financially secure\, have personal savings\, or own property. You would pay for a similar experience at this price point elsewhere without worrying about how it would impact your ability to spend money on other things. \n\n\nMiddle range: The middle option for a workshop is a discounted price that does not fully cover the costs of running the class or service. \n\nWe recommend paying this price if: you have access to steady income and your basic needs are met\, but are working to pay off debt or build savings. While paying for this class might mean you have to cut back on things like going out to dinner or buying new clothes\, it won’t harm you in the long term. \n\n\nLower range: The lowest price for a workshop is a further discounted price that does not cover the costs of running the class or service. \n\nWe recommend paying this price if: you have access to basic needs\, but your financial situation feels tenuous. You would have to save up for many months to be able to afford a higher price point. \nPlease note: We are committed to welcoming all members of our community to our studio. If the lowest price is still out of reach for you\, please email gabrielle@pawlingyogawellness.org. \n\n\n\nPay It Forward\nIf you have the means\, we always welcome donations to help others access our classes and services. \nDonate Here. \nNote: Our pricing model is inspired by Green Bottle Model from Worts + Cunning and Doctor Blossom.

DESCRIPTION:A family yoga workshop for parents\, caregivers\, siblings and grandparents. \nFor families with children 3 years and older. \nCome move\, stretch\, and play together in this fun family yoga session. Family yoga encourages\nconnection\, teamwork\, and mindfulness while helping everyone build strength\, flexibility\, and\nrelaxation skills. It’s a joyful way to increase bonding\, laugh\, and create memories—on and off\nthe mat! No yoga experience needed. \n  \nAbout Michelle: \nI discovered yoga during my years living in Spain\, where I explored the practice and developed a deep appreciation for its ability to create balance and calm. It wasn’t until 2022\, after moving back to the States\, that I truly fell in love with yoga as a transformative way of life.\n\nEncouraged by the physical\, mental\, and spiritual growth yoga brought to my life\, I completed my teacher training with the inspiring Gabrielle Semel in 2024. This journey deepened not only my knowledge of yoga but also my gratitude for the vibrant and welcoming community I’ve found here in Pawling.\nTeaching yoga has become a way for me to give back to the community I cherish so much. I aim to create a space where everyone feels supported\, connected\, and empowered to explore their own practice—on and off the mat.

SUMMARY:Women's Circle\, Second Fridays
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a welcoming\, intentional gathering each month—a supportive evening of connection\, reflection\, and community.\n\nThese circles are a space to slow down\, step away from the demands of daily life\, and reconnect with yourself in the company of other women.\n\nThrough gentle grounding practices\, thoughtful prompts\, and shared conversation\, we create space to slow down and come home to ourselves. No prior experience is needed. Come as you are.\n\nJoin our WhatsApp group here:\nhttps://chat.whatsapp.com/C9XjPU7vIBlGlSc3OwMlaF?mode=ac_t\n\n\n\n__________________________________________________ \nChoosing Your Price\nWhen you register for a workshop\, you can choose from one of three price options. \n\nTop range: The highest option for the workshop reflects the true cost of the service—that is\, the price that a studio without a sliding scale would charge to cover expenses and pay teachers appropriately.

SUMMARY:Write Your Heart Out
DESCRIPTION:Poetry as a practice for connecting with your emotional body\, moving energy and remembering  \nJoin Danielle Riccardi and Jay Erickson\, two local semi-pro published writers for a workshop designed to unleash your inner poet and explore memory. On this Memorial Day weekend\, we will move through a practice of gathering\, weaving and adorning memory as we move towards wholeness through the yoga of re-membering. \nWe will use an adaption of the “Journal Ladder” process to start simple and small and build to an expression that allows for writing to be a release\, healing\, insight\, or sense-making. \nWe will explore the yoga of poetry and how a poem\, like a physical form\, can constellate and contain a certain shape of energy or memory and how the music and imagery and vast permission of poetry is nothing to fear or avert but a vast playground and dancefloor for all those who have language.\nNo experience is necessary—this workshop is open to complete beginners\, curious writers\, and experienced poets alike. Come as you are and leave with new ideas\, new writing\, and a fresh way of looking at memory in poetry. \nConsider bringing comfortable clothes. And alliteration (or a dash of sibilance).

SUMMARY:Somatic Release Breathwork with Julia Zern\, Somatic Release Breathwork™ Practitioner \, ERYT 500
DESCRIPTION:Somatic Release Breathwork™ is a healing practice to release trauma\, stress and tension that has been stored in the body. Through guided breath patterns\, NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming ) and co-regulation of your nervous system this modality is self-healing on a deep subconscious level. In this practice we access the sympathetic nervous system to allow what’s been stuck in the body to be expressed and moved out and invite in new more useful patterns. The session is done laying down with eyes closed and is set to music. \nSomatic Release Breathwork™ often inspires insights on what’s been keeping you stuck and creates a safe space to release the past and claim your authentic Self. \nPlease bring a yoga mat\, blanket\, water bottle and journal for insights\, optional eye mask. \n______________________________________________________ \nJulia is a Somatic Release Breathwork™ practitioner as well as Vinyasa and Yin yoga teacher living and working in the Hudson Valley. \nShe has a background of practicing and studying many different styles of yoga\, learning from both local and international teachers since the year 2000 and teaching since 2011. \nJulia is a Somatic Release Breathwork practitioner certified by founder Steven Jaggers. SUMMARY:A Qigong Practice. The Microcosmic Orbit - Aligning with Summer Solstice
DESCRIPTION:An elegant Taoist practice to realign the human body with two of our most powerful celestial allies\, the Sun and Moon\, while rooting us to our Earthly home. The Microcosmic Orbit\, also known as the Small Heavenly Cycle invites opening of our “third eye” expansion of our intuitive\, pre-verbal origins for greater insight to our lives.\n\nThe practice brings the Sun’s infra-red light up the spinal column\, through our seven chakras\, it meets with Moon’s silvery blue light on the forehead and other skull points\, radiating down the front body\, to the pelvis.\n\nThe core teaching of this practice grounds us in our humanity\, while expanding our Qi field to the\nCosmos. The seven levels of healing it brings to each energetic center of the body makes it a very\ncomplete practice\, one that is a marvelous ally for caretakers\, parents\, healers and seekers in all fields.\n \nThis is a standing practice that can also be done from chair. All are welcome.\n\nNadiya Peters-Nottingham is a Master Qigong Teacher in practice for over 30 years.  A former Pawling resident she now lives in Ireland and teaches in Europe and USA. She was made a master teacher by her teacher\, Master Liu He of Portland Oregon.  www.nadiyapeters.com
